Claire Ackermann

Claire was born in Geneva on the 10th of December, 1980. She was the eldest of three, with a younger sister and brother. She always took good care of her family because they were very important to her, as well as her friends. Happy in life, her laugh and smile were very communicative. Claire knew exactly what she wanted in life and was self-confident. Brilliant at school, she easily obtained a university degree in Political Science. Curious by nature, she had an insatiable love for learning and reading. She had many different passions such as photography, hiking in the mountains, cross-country skiing, travelling, scuba-diving, music, etc. She developed a talent for playing violin at the age of 4 years old. Very sportive, she participated in many races including triathlon.

Claire’s big dream was to discover the world in 20 months. It was a way of learning more about nature, animals, people and herself. Her adventure was intricately prepared over several years. It began in 2010 in Canada and Alaska where she hoped to see the northern lights, one of the reasons that brought her to the Stampede Trail.

Claire was admired by many and remains an inspiration for everyone who knew her. Incredibly loyal, she always gave good advice to her family and friends. Her kindness and generosity were very appreciated. Claire will always be remembered as our shining star who worshiped life and excitement. Truly loved, she will forever be greatly missed.
